The 51st Annual Gem & Mineral Show will be another amazing display of sparkling gems and jewelry and lots and lots of geodes (cut for you), rocks and fossils from around the world! Remote-controlled race cars designed by young scientists and engineering students from Richland One middle and high schools, as well as students from schools in NC and SC, will burn up the track as they compete in NASCAR-type races! Richland One’s Career and Technology Education Motorsports Program is hosting the Invitational from 9am – 2pm at Lower Richland High School. More here.

3rd Annual Fall Back Fest

100 Block of State Street, West Columbia from 6 PM – 9 PM. Features live music from Rian Adkinson, food and beverages from Cha Cha’s Food Truck, Cafe Strudel West Columbia, State Street Pub, @116 Espresso and Wine Bar, Terra, and Al’s Upstairs. There will be live street mural paintings by local artists. Businesses on State Street will also have specials for the event in conjunction with the November State Street Art Crawl. Rocky Horror Picture Show Festival

2nd Act Film Festival

Presented by The Jasper Project, The 2nd Act Film Festival is a unique take on the film project. We gave ten filmmaking teams the 1st and 3rd acts of a short film script. Their job is to write the 2nd act and make the movie. On November 7th we screen those ten films. For the past four years the 2nd Act Film Festival has played to overflow crowds and we expect this year to be no different. Tickets here.
