Mungo Construction, founded by Mungo Homes, is boosting Richland County’s efforts to help residents displaced by the 2015 flood.
As part of a federally funded program to replace single-family homes severely damaged by the flooding, Mungo Construction is demolishing existing buildings and constructing new houses, which will allow residents to return to their communities. In all, 42 homes are being built in neighborhoods throughout the County.
The homebuilding initiative is funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, which assists low- to moderate-income families who were living in owner-occupied houses when the flood occurred.
The County aims to complete the rebuild project in July 2020.
