Harbison Theatre Postpones Season Until January 2021

June 22, 2020
Dear friends of HT@MTC,

One thing we know for sure is Harbison Theatre at MTC has the best patrons and supporters in the Midlands and beyond. Our theatre family thanks you for your patience and resilience as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 crisis. I have been working on numerous scenarios with our wonderful team to figure out the best way to reopen safely, and to bring the magic of live theatre back into our lives. Unfortunately, the reality is that opening HT@MTC in this climate is not the safe and right decision at this time. Therefore, I am emailing you today to let you know that we are suspending the start of our 2020-2021 season until January 2021. As hard of a decision as this was to make, I feel strongly that it is the right one.

All shows from this past season that were postponed will be rescheduled in the new year. If you have a ticket to one of the postponed performances and the new date will work for you, no action will be required – your ticket will be valid and honored for the new date. Otherwise, you can contact the box office for a refund by calling 803.407.5011.

At this time, the only firm date we have rescheduled is the Edwin McCain and Patrick Davis show, and that will happen on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Other dates will be coming soon as we work with our community organizations and artists. In the meantime, we are working on developing creative partnerships with local artists for some fall projects, but that will be finalized over the summer. Please make sure you are following us on our social media channels – you can find us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram. That way, you will have immediate access as dates get rescheduled, and maybe some sneak peeks at a few surprises as they are announced for the fall!

Right now, our focus will be to assist in the safe reopening of the MTC campus here at Harbison and offering the usage of the theatre for socially distanced classes and programming. More details and information will be forthcoming, and you will be the first to know.

Please stay in touch. Our team is back in the theatre building and can answer any questions you have. We hope you understand this decision was not made lightly, but with your safety, the safety of our staff, volunteers, and artists in mind. We miss you terribly and will look forward to seeing your wonderful faces again as we travel this new road together.

We are hopeful for a brighter 2021, bringing in the shows we missed this year, plus I have some artists that can’t wait to be on the Harbison stage that you will love.

Please stay well and stay safe, and we’ll be in touch.
