Arguably the finest park in the Greater Columbia area, Saluda Shoals offers something for everyone. March and April bring with them some warmer weather, which means there’s more reason to go outside!

So, on days when you’re looking for a way to enjoy the outdoors, visit Saluda Shoals Park in the St. Andrews-Irmo area.


Whether walking, running, or biking, the trails at Saluda Shoals take you along the banks of the Saluda River and through forested parklands. many are paved, including the popular Greenway Trail. Men’s women’s, and youth-sized Cruiser bicycles are available for rent from 9:30 Am – 4:00 PM everyday!

Canoe & Kayak Rentals

Canoes, single kayaks, and tandem kayaks are available for rent daily from 9 AM – 5 PM. These rentals offer a great way for you to get outdoors and enjoy the Saluda River’s peaceful beauty.

Rentals include all the necessary equipment, such as paddles and lifejackets, but feel free to bring your own! Alternatively, you can bring your own vessel, and use one of the ramps at the Park. Saluda Shoals offers a shuttle if you need help transporting your canoe or kayak.

Barking Lot Dog Park

A two-acre fenced-in, off leash area for dogs to run and play? Sounds like a dream! The Barking Lot features three small bone-shaped pools for dogs to cool off during the hot summer months, and a gazebo where owners can relax.

The park requires a small fee, and ownership documents prior to entry.

Picnic Shelters

Saluda Shoals Park has six picnic shelters available for rental. Each includes lights, ceiling fans, electricity, grills, water, proximity to restrooms, and lighted parking. Your party can add features such as a volleyball net or a horseshoe pit, and charter the Saluda Shoals Park Train by the hour! Whether you’re a bird enthusiast, or just enjoy a walk in the woods, you should join Patricia Voelker for exceptional bird walks in the park on the Last Saturday of March and April at 8 AM!

If you do not have a life bird list, now is a wonderful time to start. Make sure to wear walking shoes, and bring water, sunscreen insect repellent. Most importantly, don’t forget your binoculars!
