Frank Martin Basketball Camps
Starts June 7
Gives campers an opportunity to improve their game in a fun environment. Camps focus on executing the proper fundamentals, sportsmanship, developing team spirit, and self-esteem.

Dawn Staley Basketball Camp
June 9-12 / June 24-27
This camp is designed to develop and teach basketball skills. The camp will emphasize fundamental basketball and overall player development. Daily instruction and stations will focus on dribbling, ball-handling, shooting, rebounding and defensive techniques. Campers will compete on teams in order to apply their individual skills to the team concept. The camp is open to any and all rising 6th – 12th grade girls. Campers will need to bring a bagged lunch each day.

This summer at Richland One’s Challenger Learning Center, campers will learn how to build and fly their own drones, launch rockets, fly simulated space missions and so much more. An Advanced Drone Camp, as well as a spring family fun rocket camp, also have been added to the Center’s fun lineup.

Columbia Mini Maker Faire | May 18

Columbia’s Mini Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and commercial exhibitors. All of these makers come together at the Columbia Mini Maker Faire to show what they have made, and share what they have learned.

Richland One Language Immersion Program

Enrolling for 2019-2020
Are you interested in your child receiving a bilingual education? In the Richland One Language Immersion program at Carver-Lyon Elementary, students are immersed in a Spanish or Mandarin Chinese learning environment for approximately half of their instructional time.Language immersion students learn through an innovative, standards-based curriculum that fosters their development through dual language into self-confident learners and global citizens.The Richland One Language Immersion program is now enrolling students from Prekindergarten through first-grade. The Language Immersion Program is open to students throughout Richland One and bus transportation is provided.
In addition to Language Immersion, all students will be a part of the school-wide Leader in Me Magnet program. The Leader in Me process will help teachers unleash each child’s full potential as a well-rounded global citizen. Students at Carver-Lyon will use Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, to learn and practice integrity, initiative, work ethic, cooperation, confidence, and service to the community.
