Discover: Date Ideas

January 2, 2019

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we  took it upon ourselves to highlight some of the most romantic date ideas you can find around the Columbia area. Not looking to spend a fortune? Don’t worry, neither are we! This list is tailor-made for folks that just want to have a good time, without breaking the bank. Between movies, canoeing, and cooking, we’re positive you’ll find something that you and your partner will both love!

Stroll on the Riverwalk | Brunch at Cafe Strudel

Get your hot cocoa in one hand, your partner’s hand in the other, and go for a nice morning stroll along the Saluda River. With over 8 miles of freshly made boardwalk, you’ll find your surroundings to be both tranquil and stunning. Once you’ve stretched your legs, head over to Cafe Strudel on State Street for warm coffee and a delicious brunch!

Mini-Golf  at Frankie’s | Dinner at Bonefish Grill

There’s nothing like a little bit of competition to stoke the fire in a relationship. Take your partner down to Frankie’s Fun Park for a game of mini golf on one of their specially designed courses. Play through waterfalls, over bridges, and even in front of a replica Rainbow Row! Once you’ve finished with the back nine, head over to Bonefish Grill at the Columbiana Shopping Center to smother the taste of defeat with a scrumptious seafood dinner. Frankie’s Bonefish Grill

Movie at the Nick | Wine at Lula Drake

Nothing says romance like some art-house cinema and a fine glass of wine, and we’ve got quite a good example of that here in Columbia. On Main Street, you’ll find the Nickelodeon Theatre, where you can catch screenings of Hollywood Classics, fascinating foreign films, and the best indie films from around the country. A few doors down is the Lula Drake Wine Parlor, a swanky locale fit for a poignant post-movie discussion. Put these two venues together, and you’ve got yourself one fancy date.  The NickLula Drake

Pack and Picnic and share a Canoe at Saluda Shoals Park

It may be a little chilly, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting out on the water! At Saluda Shoals Park, you can rent a canoe and paddle through the tranquil waters of the Saluda River. Grab your partner, pack a picnic lunch, and your romantic outing is set. Saluda Shoals Park

Double Feature at The Big Mo Drive-In

Movie theaters can be romantic, but it’s hard to snuggle up close to your partner with an armrest between you, and you certainly can’t bring a blanket inside. Our suggestion? Drive down to The Big Mo, and take in a double feature. Crank up the heat, bring your own snacks, and enjoy a curated pair of movies together. The Big Mo

Cooking Classes with Let’s Cook Culinary

Instead of going out to dinner, try cooking something new! At the Let’s Cook Culinary Studio, you and your partner can learn how to cook a unique dish, and then enjoy the fruits of your labor. Every day presents a different cooking opportunity, such as French Bistro Tuesday, or Tapas Fridays. So, don your apron and chef’s hat, bring your appetite, and get cooking! Let’s Cook Culinary

Conquer an Escape Room at the Final Door

Trust and teamwork are essential components of every relationship, and we know the perfect way to test them: escape rooms! Head to the Final Door in Cayce and put your communication skills to the test with an exhilarating adventure. Solve a murder, escape from a cult sacrifice, or kill a vampyr! Once you’ve completed the task, you and your partner are sure to be closer than ever. The Final Door
